Magic Names, Chicken Fingers and Balki

The names in some of these novels and movies about a magical world can be silly.

Kahlan Amnell- It doesn't sound like one would think.
Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander- what a mouthful...
Meriadoc 'Merry' Brandybuck- You'd think its a girl...
Peregrin 'Pippin' Took- Pip pip cheerio...
Merry Pippins... Mary Poppins... hee hee...
Aragorn- Eragon- Aragog....
Grima Wormtongue- yuck....
Faramir...
Eowyn... Eomer...
Grishnakh...
Murtagh- I feel like I might gag...
Galbatorix... Really?

The way I figure- when naming the characters, the author thinks- "Consonant- vowel- double consonant- vowel- and finally one last consonent... There- what a lovely magical name."

I've had a geeky kinda week....

I'm really hungry. I would love some chicken fingers, mashed 'tatoes and corn... It's too bad its 4:30 in the morning and I don't have a car. Or a drivers license.

I think that getting a man that looks like Balki to play as your all terrible villain was a terrible idea.

He's definitely lacking in the villain cred, which is most of the reason I don't watch the show.

Having the big bad throw a little-girl tantrum when he doesn't get his way is no way for a TV show to behave. They chose poorly. The villain is 50% of the story--critical to good storytelling, and they failed.

You can believe he's evil if you see him in The Langoleers.
