Help me out here.... the song is about the Irish fellers that fought for other counties. What are they called? Dan? I expect you know with your vast knowledge of history and science and books and movies and lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats and large chu— You bloody well get my point....

Mercenaries.
In Ireland they called them Wild Geese, since the young men would fly off in service to another nation.
WILD GEESE!!! Seagulls kept popping into my head but I knew that wasn't it.
